A CHRONOLOGYI have never seen, nor do I have, a copy of the birth certificate of my father - William Stanley Beames. I assume his birth will have been duty recorded at Somerset House. The following is a faithful copy of the relevant portions of a chronology given to me after my father's death. A certified copy of the whole can be provided if it would be helpful. (written by his eldest son, Tom Beames) April 30 1886 - William Stanley Beames was born to Henry Blunt and Catherine Mary Beames (? Katherine Helen Beames, nee Mac Donald) in London England. Brought up near Darjeeling, India, where his father was a civil servant. 1892 - Will returned to England to be educated, finally attending Dulwich College & School of Mines So. Kensington. (military engineering and mining). 1905 - W. S. Beames emigrated to Canada. 1909-15 - Lay Reader for Anglican Church Ministry. 1915-16 - Theology student at the Anglican Theology College of B.C. Received a Diploma - Licentiate of Theology. Oct. 14, 1915 - W. S. Beames married Gertrude Elizabeth Brown. 1916 - W. S. Beames, having previously enlisted with Royal Canadian Engineers - 2nd Division, served in Europe. 1919 - W. S. Beames returned from duties with Army of Occupation. March 1, 1920 - Born: Thomas Bernard (Bud, Budge, Bernard, Tom) - (Vancouver, B.C.) Sept. 9, 1921 - Born: Henry Denys (Denys) - (Prince Rupert, B.C.) 1925 - Made Deacon. Went to Peace River in the Athabaska Diocease. 1926 - Made Priest. Assigned to Fruitvale. June 3, 1926 - Born: Katherine Mary Elizabeth (Betty) - (Peace River, Alta.) Feb. 1, 1927 - Appointed as Assistant to Trail. Includes East Trail and points from Wymer? to the border & Penderville? Valley. Nov. 13, 1927 - Born: Hugh William (Bill) - (Trail, B.C.) 1928-33 - Appointed Rector of Revelstoke and points from Malakwa to Trout Lake. 1933 to 1951 - Appointed Rector of Penticton, Rural Dean of South Okanagan for four years. In charge of Oliver, Osoyos, Caurton and Keremeos, May '33 to '42. Dec. 11, 1937 - Born: Caroline Helen (Carol) - (Penticton, B.C.) 1944 - Denys, a RCAF Pilot, killed in action over Hanover, Germany. 1948, June - Betty killed in auto accident in Kamloops BC. 1951 - On leave in Naramata. 1952-56 - Appointed to Kaslo as Vicar of Kokanee Parish - Lardean to Long Beach & Riodadel to Grey Creek. 1956-64 - Retired to Naramata. Took on various temporary postings. In Dec. 1962 was in Chase. May 31, 1964 - 1966 - Assigned to Naramata. Oct. 14, 1965 - Golden Wedding Anniversary. 1979 - Bill dies of heart attack in Toronto, Ont. 1982 - Rev. W. S. Beames died in Penticton, B.C. |
