Well, I dug up this great shot of three members of the West Coast Trail clearing crew (plus me as a visitor) from the summer of 1969.
In the pic are myself (John Sampson), Dave Palmer, Bob Ennis and Laurie Creak. I was replacing Scott Gain for this shift on the trail.
This was a memorable day ... the first time we reached the outer coastline from the Port Renfrew end, using the brand-new trail re-cut by Dave, Bob, Laurie and Scott.
I can remember the first navigations of the big blow-down and the smell of salal and cedar like it was yesterday.
